Yuzemi is not limited to working with our core collaborators. We also advise clients requiring access to other outstanding Japanese makers working across a wide range of disciplines, from tatami craftsmen to Maki-e artists. We draw on long-standing knowledge of contemporary and traditional practices that are often inaccessible outside Japan.
Bespoke & Commissioned Works
Yuzemi collaborates closely with Japanese artisans to realise bespoke and commissioned works, from initial brief through to delivery. Alongside their established bodies of work, our makers engage creatively with each project, exploring new forms,
scale, and interpretations.
We oversee the commissioning process with clarity and discretion, acting as an intermediary between client and maker to ensure a shared understanding at every stage. Each commission is developed with care, resulting in objects that reflect both the client’s vision and the integrity of the maker’s practice.
Traditional Kintsugi Repair
Yuzemi offers traditional kintsugi repair for broken, cracked, or chipped ceramic and glass works. Repairs are carried out using authentic Japanese materials, including natural urushi lacquer and pure gold powder, honouring the object’s history
rather than concealing it.
Synthetic adhesives, epoxy resins, and coarse metal powders are not used at any stage of the process.
